Onset is its own world inside Wareham. Victorian cottages sit packed onto small lots around Onset Bay, the streets are narrow, and big trees are squeezed between houses only a few feet apart. A tree job here is rarely about how big the tree is. It’s about where the pieces can go.
TriTown Group works throughout Onset, 02558, from the village and Onset Beach to Point Independence, Shell Point, and the streets above the bay.
Why Onset tree work is different
Many Onset lots have no way to get a truck into the backyard, and the house next door is often a few steps away. We plan these jobs around rope work: limbs and trunk sections are tied off, lowered under control, and carried out to the street. That takes more labor than a wide-open lot, and we’d rather explain it upfront than surprise you on the bill.
Seasonal homes add another wrinkle. If you’re not here all winter, a dead limb over the roof can sit for months without anyone noticing. Let us know you’re away, and we’ll coordinate access and keep you posted by phone or email.
Trees we see in Onset
There’s pitch pine and oak on sandy soil near the water, and old maples along the village streets. There are also plenty of ornamental trees and hedges planted generations ago that now stand taller than the cottages. Salt wind off Onset Bay and the Cape Cod Canal side leaves many of them with lopsided, top-heavy crowns that lean over roofs and porches.
Overhead wires run through the canopy on most Onset streets. Anything touching or close to an energized line has to be made safe by the utility before we work on it, and we’ll help you set that up.

What we do here
Onset jobs are mostly careful removals on tight lots, pruning to get limbs off roofs and porches, and stump grinding where a small grinder can reach. After a storm, call our 24/7 emergency line.
On narrow Onset lots, our bucket truck lets us work from the street when there’s room to set up. If a tree can’t come down safely any other way, we can rent a crane for the job. Our crew has handled plenty of crane-assisted removals.

Onset tree service FAQ
There’s no driveway into my backyard. Can you still take the tree down?
Usually, yes. We climb or rig the tree, lower it in sections on ropes, and carry the wood out to the street by hand or with small equipment. It takes longer, and we’ll price it honestly.
The tree is only a few feet from my neighbor’s cottage. Is that a problem?
It’s common in Onset. Every piece is lowered under control rather than dropped. If we need access from next door, please give your neighbor a heads-up before we schedule.
A storm dropped a limb on my roof and I’m not in town. What should I do?
Call 508-501-8264. We can take the limb off and tell you what we see so you can contact your insurer and a roofer. If you can, have someone take photos first for the insurance claim.
Do you also work in the rest of Wareham?
Yes. We cover Wareham Center, East and West Wareham, Swifts Beach, Great Neck, and Buttermilk Bay. See our Wareham tree service page.
Around Onset, we also do fall cleanup, from leaf removal to storm debris haul-away, and install permanent roofline lights you control from your phone.
