Acushnet is the quieter stretch between New Bedford and Rochester. It has older neighborhoods near the Acushnet River, farm stands and orchards, and wooded house lots spreading out toward the Freetown line. A lot of the tree work here is the kind that gets put off for years, like the dead oak at the back of the yard or the pine over the shed, until a storm makes the decision for you.
TriTown Group handles removals, pruning, stump grinding, cabling, and storm response throughout Acushnet, 02743. It’s a short run over from our base in Marion.

What we see in Acushnet yards
Dead and dying oaks. The spongy moth years and the dry summers that followed killed or weakened a lot of oaks on wooded Acushnet lots. Dead oaks get brittle fast, and the big limbs are what come down first.
Pines that outgrew the yard. White pines planted along property lines decades ago are now 60 feet tall and leaning into wires, gutters, and the neighbor’s yard.
Old fruit trees. Many farm properties have apple and pear trees that are hollow, split, or half dead. Some are worth a careful prune. Others are hazards in a wind.
Wet ground near the river. Low spots near the Acushnet River and its brooks keep roots shallow, which makes trees there more likely to tip in a storm.

Before storm season
Late summer is the time to deal with the trees you’ve been keeping an eye on. A dead oak or a pine leaning over the roof is far easier and cheaper to take down on a calm, dry day, with room to plan the drop, than at night after it has split. If there’s a tree you’re unsure about, we’ll take a look and tell you straight whether it can wait.
Clearing for a project
If you’re planning an addition, a garage, a pool, or solar panels, or you just want more light in the yard, we can take down several trees in one visit and grind the stumps, leaving you clean ground to work with. For single trees, see tree removal and pruning. Storm damage goes to our 24/7 emergency line.
We bring our own bucket truck for high limbs and leaning trees near the house. If a removal really calls for a crane, we line up a rental, and our crew has been on many crane jobs.

Acushnet tree service FAQ
My old apple tree is hollow. Can it be saved?
Sometimes. A hollow trunk with a solid outer shell can stand for years with the right pruning to lighten the load. If the shell is thin or cracked, or the tree leans toward something you care about, removal is the safer choice.
Can you grind stumps left from an old clearing?
Yes. Old stumps are fair game, whether they’re from a job we did or someone else’s. We grind them below grade so the area can be mowed, seeded, or built on.
Do you cover Long Plain and the north end of town?
Yes. We cover all of Acushnet, including Long Plain and the wooded roads toward the Freetown and Rochester lines.
Can you keep the wood for me?
Sure. Tell us what you want to keep. We can leave log rounds for firewood, leave chips for mulch, or haul everything away.
Around Acushnet, we also do fall cleanup, from leaf removal to storm debris haul-away, and install permanent roofline lights you control from your phone.
